Garner Foods embraces the fight against hunger as its primary social cause in North Carolina and across America.
Local Social and Community Causes
For years, Garner Foods has played a leadership role in feeding hungry families through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, a member of the Feeding America organization. Beyond monetary donations, senior management with the food bank also serve as leaders within the food bank’s executive committee.
The company also supports the food bank’s director and executive chef, Jeff Bacon, with Winston-Salem-based Triad Community Kitchen, a culinary training and job placement program to help the under-employed. Watch our story below.
Garner Foods has also taken the lead in promoting commercial restaurant operators in downtown Winston-Salem through the Texas Pete® Culinary Arts Festival. Working with scores of volunteers, restaurant owners, and Garner Foods’ own team of marketing professionals, the festival was born. Through a mix of music and samplings from local restaurants, the Texas Pete® brand’s commitment to foodservice is brought to life in its hometown. Get a glimpse of the 2015 festival.
National Cause
Garner Foods’ commitment to a national movement by the foodservice industry to feed hungry children is exemplified by its formation of the Texas Pete® Kitchen Hero Cook-Off. In cooperation with the No Kid Hungry Program of Share Our Strength and leading restaurant chains, the event has raised funds to provide 400,000 meals. The fun and engaging event is held each year in Dallas. Learn how Garner Foods does it in the video below.
The Environment
Garner Foods is a good steward of the environment through the reduction of waste generated by its operation, its commitment to recycling, and its use of recycled materials.
The company recently applied Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) concepts in the rebirth of a downtown building for the company’s new corporate office in Winston-Salem. The new facility conserves energy and water, and recycles waste material from its operation.
Garner Foods understands its responsibility to operate and grow in a sustainable manner. This family owned and operated business is committed to quality and excellence in the production of world-class sauces, salsa, and other great-tasting products.
